Fits and assembles components to build, rebuild, and repair machines and equipment to customer specifications.
IND-ELS
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Analyze assembly blueprint and specifications manual, and plan machine building operations. Verify conformance of parts to stock list and blueprints.
2. Read, interpret and understand mechanical/pneumatic blueprints to fit, assemble, construct, repair, and rebuild packaging machines and equipment using hand and power tools.
3. Align components for assembly and bolts, screws, dowels, welds, or rivets parts together, or arrange for assembly by Welder and Electrician.
4. Lay out hole locations and drill and tap holes on parts for assembly.
5. Brush blue pigment on parts and mate them to detect high spots on surfaces. Remove high spots, and smooth surfaces.
6. Perform modifications to parts, manual mills and other fabrication equipment as required.
7. Verify alignment and tolerances of moving parts.
8. Test operation of assembly by hand.
9. Report defective material, parts, equipment and unusual conditions.
10. Assemble, set up, and operate machine to verify functioning, machine capabilities, and conformance to customer's specifications.
11. Identify, troubleshoot, problem-solve, and fix the root cause of machinery and sub-assembly problems that arise.
12. Manage assembly time to ensure completion of assigned projects within specified time frame.
13. Provide feedback, alert, and communicate changes and modifications with engineers throughout the assembly process.
14. Document improvements to procedures and processes in writing and electronically.
15. Instruct and assist other assembly personnel in resolving simple or complex assembly problems.
16. Disassemble and inspect machine after testing to prepare for shipment to customer.
17. Follow all Company Standard Operating Procedures.
18. Follow prescribed rules for safety and cleanliness, maintaining work area and equipment in accordance with standards and policies for safe conduct and operation of equipment.
19. Travel on occasion as needed/requested.
20. Perform other duties as required or as assigned by supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. High school diploma or GED.
2. 2 or more years of experience in machining; experience with Packaging machinery preferred.
4. Able to read and understand blueprints.
5. Able to assemble parts per assembly drawings using proper hardware.
6. Experience using measuring tools – e.g., calipers, tachometers, decibel meter, etc.
7. Basic computer skills requiring basic data entry – e.g., for clocking in/out and logging in/or of jobs.
8. Math skills.
9. Able to communicate with employees at all levels within the Company.
10. Must conduct self in a professional manner at all times.
