Job Summary:
The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks requiring knowledge in one or more skilled trades, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, masonry, construction, and equipment repair. Under the general supervision of the Director of Operations and the Operations Manager, this role ensures that institutional facilities and grounds are safe, clean, and fully operational for students, staff, faculty, and the public. The technician also assists with preventative maintenance and supports setup for institutional events.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine inspections of buildings and grounds to identify repair or maintenance needs.

• Use tools and testing devices to troubleshoot, adjust, and repair equipment and systems.

• Assist with general facility upkeep, including minor repairs and installations (e.g., doors, cabinetry, hardware, and classroom or office equipment).

• Maintain tools and equipment to ensure they are safe and in working condition.

• Operate institution-owned or leased vehicles to transport materials, personnel, and guests.

• Conduct light vehicle maintenance, both interior and exterior.

• Receive and verify package contents, ensuring accuracy against invoices and purchase orders

• Inspect merchandise upon arrival for damage or discrepancies and follow reporting procedures

• Ensure items meet export requirements; identify and flag non-exportable items

• Accurately enter package and merchandise data into computer systems

• Use digital tools such as document scanners, label printers, and digital cameras as part of the processing workflow
